DENVER (KDVR) -- Denver's rent simply will not stay down. Rents have come down nationally from highs in 2022 following a sustained upward press in 2021 and 2022. According to the most recent Redfin market report, the national asking price for rent is down 0.4% from last March - the lowest it has been in 13 months and the first annual drop since March 2020. What do you need to make to feel like you’re actually earning 6 figures in Denver? In Denver, though, things look different. Not only does it have one of the higher rents in the country, but it is among the cities where rents have risen in the last year. The median asking rent for homes of any kind in Denver was $2,797 per month, just behind Riverside, California and Miami. New York City has the nation's highest asking rent - just over $,4000 - while Louisville, Kentucky has the lowest. In contrast to the national average asking rent, Denver's rent has risen in the last year. Poland struck a compromise on Tuesday to resume the transit of Ukrainian farm products across its territory to other countries, de-escalating a row that blew up last weekend when Warsaw slapped a unilateral ban on all food imports. The Polish ban last Saturday came in response to protests by farmers hit by a supply glut that followed Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and subsequent blockade of the Black Sea export route. Hungary and Slovakia quickly followed suit, while Bulgaria and Romania have been considering similar measures as well. “We managed to come up with mechanisms to ensure that not a single ton [of Ukrainian products] will stay in Poland, that the goods will be transported through Poland … further into Europe or to Polish ports on the Baltic Sea,” Agriculture Minister Robert Telus told a press conference after talks with Ukrainian officials in Warsaw. Telus said the transit restrictions would be lifted on Thursday night. The ...

An online search for “early retirement” will yield millions of results, many of those about retirees who saved aggressively and exited the workforce before age 40.But most people have a more approachable target in mind: According to a new NerdWallet survey, Americans who aren’t yet retired but plan to retire say they plan to leave full-time work at age 57, on average. Supreme Court: New Jersey can quit mob-busting port agency

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Supreme Court says New Jersey can withdraw from a commission created decades ago with New York to combat the mob’s influence at their joint port. The high court ruled unanimously Tuesday that the Garden State doesn’t need New York’s consent to withdraw from the Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor. The commission was created in 1953 when organized crime had infiltrated the port and was demanding payments from workers and shippers through extortion and violence.New Jersey lawmakers have said that changes in the industry, including the development of container shipping, have lessened the influence of organized crime at the port and reduced the need for the commission. The state says the commission has become “an impediment to economic growth.”“We hold that New Jersey may unilaterally withdraw from the Waterfront Commission Compact notwithstanding New York’s opposition,” Justice Brett Kavanaugh wrote for the court. The two-member commission — wi...
